She was born on February 15, 1934, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio to Fred Emerson and Letha Fern Moran. When Sister was first there, she made weekly visits to Riverview Hospital in Red Bank and led the rosary for a group of her neighbors. She was 93 years of age. At 111 years of age and nearly 90 years of religious life, she was the oldest living woman religious in the United States. Sr. Michaeleen entered the Congregation in 1948, made first profession in 1950, and took her final vows in 1953. The daughter of the late John M. and Jessie (Downs) Heery, she was born July 22, 1936 in Woodbury, New Jersey. A longtime principal, educator, and friend, Dominican Sister of Hope Mary Aquin McDonald is remembered lovingly by the Dominican Sisters of Hope and her New Jersey and New York communities. Sr. Michaeleen graduated from Saint Thomas Aquinas High School in Zanesville, and after her religious formation, earned her BS in Elementary Education from Ohio Dominican College. Born in Denver, Pat earned her degree as a Registered Nurse at Bronx Community College, and her bachelor's degree in social work from Ohio Dominican College. She earned her doctorate in east Asian studieswhich included a year of living in Taipei, Taiwanlearned Chinese, and returned to Edgewood College to teach history for 22 years.
